Rebel Yell

Rebel Yell is a racing wooden coaster located at Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA. Designed by John Allan of the Philadelphia Toboggan Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the ride was designed with the construction of the park. Rebel Yell opened in 1975. The Rebel Yell originally featured a red, white, and blue color scheme.

The coaster is one of three racing wooden coasters in the world, the others being Kings Island’s Racer, and Carowinds’ Thunder Road. The coaster features a 85ft climb to the top of the lift hill and the a 81 ft drop at an 50 degree angle. The coaster reaches a top speed of 56 mph, during the ride you encounter up to 4.2G’s. This classic never features a long line because of its high capacity of 1200 riders per hour.

This coaster is a very important in the ACE organization, as the three founders of the organization came up for the idea while marathoning the ride as part of a publicity stunt for the movie Rollercoaster. In 2003 the ride received the ACE coaster landmark award.
