Avalanche better

Avalanche

Teams from all around the globe are practicing for the Winter Olympics! Located to the left of Volcano, in the Congo section of Kings Dominion is Avalanche; a unique ride for the entire family!

Opening in 1988 this coaster made by Mack Rides is the only coaster of its kind currently operating in the United States! It is themed after the Olympic bob-sledding competition. Don’t let the 12 foot drop deter you – this coaster can still provide chilling thrills! There are seven cars per train, carrying up to 14 passengers. And to top things off, you can represent your favorite country: The United States, Switzerland, Germany, France, or Canada!

You take your place in your bobsled and before you know it, you’re off and smoothly ascending the lift hill! After reaching the peak, you are whipped into a 360 degree helix before running into brakes. Racing at 41 mph, you’ll really feel like you’re speeding down a mountain! At 3200 feet long, the twisting, turning track pulls a hard 3.4 G’s in only 1 1/2 minutes. It feels like it will never end and as your bobsled prepares to reenter the station you can’t help but to want to ride it again! But which country will you represent next time?
