White Water Canyon

White Water Canyon, at Kings Dominion, is a river rafting adventure through the woods of old Virginia. Besides Water Works, it is one of the only two water rides found in park. The ride is designed by Intamin AG and began to soak guests in 1983. It is located in the Old Virginia section of the park between Shenandoah Lumber Company, and Wayside Grill. Thrill seekers will embark on their journey through the canyon on six person rafts. The river is approximately 1,500 feet long and will spin, dip, and drench you with water for nearly five minutes.

You start out on a loading platform above the rapids below. As you climb into the wet seats and strap on the soggy seat belt, you can’t help but notice the riders departing, they are SOAKED! Before you know it your raft is plummeting down into the wild waters below. You soon realize this is no joy ride, your raft is navigating its way through rapids, geysers, and even waterfalls. White Water Canyon is easily one of the best ways to cool off on hot summer days. For park guests who are not up for the thrill, they can enjoy the ride by watching it from the observation deck, which is located up the exit path.

Every year when we turn our calendars to October and its time for Halloween Haunt, Kings Dominion closes the ride. They transform the rides queue into an eerie, hair raising haunted maze, that is sure to get screams.
