Back in November, Cedar Fair CEO, Matt Ouimet, said in the company’s 3rd Quarter Conference Call that Cedar Fair was looking to improve and expand their on-premise resort options. “In 2014, this will include the addition of our very popular cottages and cabins at select parks,” Ouimet said in that conference call, and it appears that Kings Dominion was one of those select parks. Kings Dominion, in addition to their already extensive 40th anniversary plans, will be expanding their Camp Wilderness campground.
Here are the facts we know so far:
- The upgrade will include 32 cabins
- Upgraded RV sites
- The cabins will have a loft, three beds, a pull-out couch, two bathrooms, and a kitchen
- There are plans for an additional 10 cabins in the future
We know the campground is currently closed, but we do not know long it will remain closed for these upgrades. This is definitely exciting news for Kings Dominion as they expand their overnight options. Cedar Point charges up to $310.00 for the cabins during the summer season.
Below are some plans for the campground expansion (click for larger image).
Edit: A previous version of this article indicated that it may be called “Lighthouse Point”. However, it appears that a Cedar Point document was mixed into Kings Dominion site plan application. The middle image above is actually for Cedar Point, not Kings Dominion. It looks like Cedar Point is getting some upgrades too!
