A Bigger Better Planet Snoopy Update From December 2012

Back in December, I was lucky enough to be able to go into the (currently under construction) Bigger Better Planet Snoopy area to see how things were coming along.

The first thing I noticed was the fact that the Snoopy’s Splash Zone (formally Nickelodeon Green Slime Zone) has been completely demolished.  This will be replaced with a rest/meet up area for families, complete with benches and a fountain centerpiece.

Sad to see the Kidzville sign go.

The bumper cars will remain at the park but the Boulder Bumper facade has been removed from the building and it will be renamed Lucy’s Crabbie Cabbie. IMG_2041.6 (2)

The kiddie games that were once in this spot are gone. I wasn’t told what was to go here.

This is the former Space Port/Hot Rods area, which will be home to 3 new rides: Flying Ace Balloon Race, Snoopy’s Space Buggies and Linus Launcher.

The former location of Virginia Clipper is the future home of Lucy’s Tugboat.

The former home of Jeep Tours will be home to Charlie Brown’s Wind Up.

The Sing-a-Round (formally BooBoo’s Tree Swings) used to sit here.  Next year we will see Woodstock Whirlybirds.

The saddest part of this tour for me (and for most people who grew up at Kings Dominion) was the area where Treasure Cave (formally Yogi’s Cave) was located. This attraction opened in 1976 but was shut down for the 2012 season because it didn’t meet new ADA requirements.  Snoopy’s Junction will be here next year!
