What’s up loyal season pass holder fans of Kings Dominion and other Cedar Fair Parks? If you don’t have a Cedar Fair pass, you can stop reading now because this will be boring and pointless. Go back to playing CityVille on Facebook.
This past season Kings Island was a guinea pig for a season pass rewards program called Fun Perks. Basically every time you eat, shop, or visit the park, you earn points that are good for discounts and FREE things like drink wristbands, Fast Lane wristbands, and more. I heard (most likely from the Dippin’ Dots guy) that if this was successful this past season at Kings Island, that there was a good chance it would be going to a few more Cedar Fair parks as well. It most likely will not open at all parks next year, but from what I gathered, Kings Dominion has everything it would need in place to make this kind of program work.
From a parks stand point this makes a ton of sense. This gives the park all access to your spending habits. They can see what you buy, where you buy, when you buy, and use that to not only better the park, but to target you in promotions and discounts. I hope this will also get the park out of the mindset that most season pass holders don’t buy anything in the park. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I spend a ton of money on shirts, food, ride photos, and more.
So to close, lets all cross our fingers and hope that Fun Perks was a huge success at Kings Island, and it will make its way to Kings Dominion and other Cedar Fair Parks. I am sure in the amount of deep fried Oreos I eat a year, I could earn a free car.
